Star Wars Dorkiness

Disneyland is the best place ever! My friends and I usually go about once a month, thanks to the sweet SoCal year pass. Unfortunately we've been blocked out for the summer, but we did get a chance to head up there one more time last week before the black-outs began. We were also celebrating Marissa's birthday, so that was tons of fun (happy birthday, Riss - love ya!) In an attempt to avoid the long lines, we tried taking the road less traveled on this Dland trip... doing a few of the things that you wouldn't usually think of doing. Things like canoeing around Tom Sawyer's Island (which brought on scary flashbacks of my near-death canoeing experience in Zambia!). We also took the liberty of participating in one of those crazy-nerdy photo things where they put your faces into a Star Wars photo. So if you've ever wondered what I'd look like as an alien, here's your chance. :) Marissa just posted our pic on the boudoir blog... Photobucket

Beautiful Bride

Crystal's wedding was absolutely gorgeous, and it was so much fun to be a part of her day! Marissa and Weston shot the wedding, and I wasn't planning on shooting... but how could I resist snagging some shots of this gorgeous bride? So I got to tag along and shoot from the sidelines (thanks for letting me shoot, M&W!). Here are a few of my fave shots of the bride (isn't she stunning?!?)

And here are a few shots of the wonderfully talented, superstar husband & wife wedding photography duo... Marissa & Weston Boucher! Congrats, Crystal & Brian! Check back soon with the Boucher's blog - they've got some awesome shots from the wedding that they'll be posting very soon!

The Revolver

"The Revolver" is a really cool art show/live music jam sesh on Tuesday nights at different coffee shops around SD. Tonight I had the opportunity to show some of my work from my recent trip to Africa, so that was pretty sweet. If you live in San Diego and want to get connected with some awesome musicians and artists, you should definitely check out 1825's "The Venue" on Monday nights, and "The Revolver" on Tuesdays (at Milano's in Mission Valley - click here for more info).

SD Style Wedding Shoot

Yesterday I had the awesome opportunity to participate in a [very cool, very "fashion-y"] photo shoot with my good friends Marissa and Weston (of Boucher Photography... that's french, pronounced "boo-shay") :) They were asked to shoot for San Diego Style Weddings, and I got to join them for the fun! Amazing models, gorgeous gowns, wonderful stylists, beautiful flowers... all of this and more. Everything was absolutely perfect, and the shots we got are pretty rockin! Here's one of my shots from the day:
...And a shot Marissa got of me "crouching" (aka being lazy & trying to relieve my feet at the end of a full day of shooting whilst wearing 4-inch heels). ;) Be sure to check out the Boucher's blog for some more shots from the day!

Riley

This cutie was SUCH a joy to photograph! Meet miss Riley, the happiest little gal with the CUTEST little cheeks. I actually knew Riley's parents from my days at Biola (Riley's mom and I played on the soccer team together way back in the day!). It was so much fun to see you again, Becky! Thanks for stopping by the studio and letting me meet your sweet daughter... hope to see you guys again soon. Here are a few of my favorite shots from our session:

I love discovering new favorites!

Would you just look at those beauties?! It's no secret that I have a secret love affair with shoes. The other day as I was picking up some new equipment at my favorite camera store, I just happened to come across this adorable little shoe store that has now become one of my new favorites. Tons of funky shoes, and purses (I have my eye on this amazing little clutch that's made of upholstery from an old car)! If you live in San Diego, you'll have to stop by this place - if you're obsessed with the accessories that you wear on your feet, you'll fall in love too, I promise.

Freakin' Fun Shoot

I absolutely HATE being in front of the camera, but I have to admit that I actually had fun during this shoot yesterday! I thought maybe it was the chance to wear some of my favorite pairs of shoes... but really, it was the chance to hang out with a friend who made me feel comfortable and let me just be myself. Thanks, J*, for bearing with me yesterday (I'm seriously amazed that you got some decent shots of me). ;) You are awesome! xoxo, Kimberlee I'm so excited to use these images in some upcoming projects... especially the shoe shots. I really wanted something fun and original - and something that will show my clients a little glimpse of who I am. And Jasmine captured my vision Perfectly. Like with a capital P. *CLICK HERE to see the rest of the images from my fab photo shoot. (PS, Jasmine Star is the most amazing wedding photographer in Orange County - and she also just launched a brand new website, so you'll have to check it out!)

Baby Loves Disco - June '08 San Diego

Such a fun event! Thanks to all of you who stopped by for your complimentary portraits in our "photo booth." It was great meeting each of you - and I'll be in touch with everyone this week to let you know who won the raffle for the photo shoot. Here are a few shots from the photo booth:

Father's Day Gift

If your dad is like my dad, shopping for holidays is one of the hardest things in the world. What do you get for the guy who says he doesn't need or want anything (and he really means it!)? I think I've gotten him a new book for every birthday, Father's Day, and Christmas for the past ten years or so. This year, I'm doing something a little different - I'm making a donation to a non-profit organization in his honor. For a long time, my heart has been completely burdened with the issue of child sexual exploitation, and I always love supporting organizations that are combating this problem. I feel so blessed, that I was able to grow up in the most safe and loving home ever. My daddy was always there to protect me, and it just breaks my heart to know that there are children out there who have never experienced this kind of love and protection. This organization (Love 146) is one I've been following for years - and for Father's Day, they're offering these awesome e-cards that you can send as a gift to your dad.

If you're stumped and want to get something new for your dad this year, check out these e-cards (click on the image below). Dad- I know you and mom are my number one blog followers (probably the only ones, actually!) - so now it's no surprise as to what you're getting this Sunday. :) Wish I could spend the day with you, but I'll see you in a few weeks! I love you so much!

Buzbee kids

Last week I had the pleasure of hanging out with these three "kids" who wanted to take a few shots for their parents. We designed an album for them and I think it's going to be a great surprise gift for their parents' anniversary. Megan, Brandon, and Whitney- you three are so much fun! It was great meeting you, and I hope we'll have a chance to hang out again soon.

My June Playlist

"Without music life would be a mistake." ~Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

I love music! Every week I have a budget set aside to get new music on my itunes. I love changing my playlists constantly (I usually make a new one every week so that I can have lots of variety while I'm working and imaging photos). Here are a few songs from my most recent playlist. Enjoy!

Oh, and the Joel Auge song is a free download right now on itunes, so go grab it!
(I usually just list artists and songs when I talk about music on my blog, but I saw that Fred Egan uses these imixes - thought it was a great idea, so I'm shamelessly copying his great idea... thanks, Fred). :)

Crystal's going to the chapel!

Today is Crystal's wedding day! It's hard to believe this day is already here. Crystal joined our boudoir studio almost a year ago, and let me just tell you, she is by FAR the best studio manager in the whole world (and she's also become a great friend). Marissa and Weston are shooting her wedding, so all of us are driving up to Cabrillo this morning. Deena's my official date for the wedding, but I'm hoping for some hot single groomsmen. Haha, just kidding. Sort of. :) Crystal, I'm so happy for you and Brian! Congrats!
On another note, I just had to share these photos I found the other day. Almost 2 years ago, when I was a complete newbie, Marissa & Weston let me come along with them to a wedding they were shooting. Here are a few fun images I shot of them that day (you guys are rockstars!)
